In collaboration with The National Institute of Culture the Coronado Golf & Country Club will present the film La Señal de la Libertad, a documentary that confronted the dictatorship in Panama.

The film, which translates to The Signal of Freedom, tells the complete story of The Voice of Freedom. 

La Prensa writes, it is the story of a "clandestine radio station organized during the Panamanian dictatorship by young people who risked their lives to intercept military communications and fight for democracy".

Rita Vásquez for La Prensa remarks that this is the first time the story has been presented in its entirety, narrated by the seven men who organized the radio station.

The Ministry of Culture of Panama

The Ministry of Culture of Panama, previously known as the National Institute of Culture (INAC), is the governmental body tasked with the promotion and dissemination of arts and culture throughout the Republic of Panama. 

History and Establishment

The National Institute of Culture was established on June 6, 1974, through Law 63. On August 15, 2019, INAC was elevated to the status of the Ministry of Culture through Law 90. Its legal framework was further solidified by the General Law of Culture, Law 175, enacted on November 3, 2020.
