Carnival 2026 will be celebrated in Panama from Saturday, February 14th, to Tuesday, February 17th. Thousands of citizens and tourists are expected to participate in festive activities both in the capital city and in the various provinces of the country.

Las Tablas is gearing up for Carnival 2026.

Calle Arriba and Calle Abajo of Las Tablas are warming up already!  Communities, municipalities, and authorities are organizing parades, water fights, and cultural events, solidifying Carnival as one of the most important festivities on the national calendar.

According to Article 46 of the Panamanian Labor Code, Tuesday, February 17, is considered an official holiday for Carnival, and therefore the corresponding labor regulations for public holidays apply.

Days Off and Closures for Carnival 2026 in Panama

The National Government ordered the closure of public and municipal offices throughout the country on Monday, February 16, and Wednesday, February 18, 2026, through Executive Decree No. 3.

The measure applies to all national and municipal public entities, intending to facilitate citizen participation in the celebrations and promote domestic tourism during this period.

The decree justifies the measure based on the country’s cultural tradition and the economic impact generated by Carnival, considering it a high-impact recreational, social, and tourist activity.

Carnival 2026 in Coronado Panama 

Families often choose a calmer destination to spend the days off over Carnival in Panama. Coronado and the surround beach communities are a popular destination. In nearby in Penonome, there is a festival fit for the whole family. 

Penonomé Water Carnival

Among the most anticipated events is the Penonomé Water Carnival, whose water fights will continue until 5:00 p.m., in addition to parades that will take place from Sunday to Tuesday starting at 9:00 p.m.

Chitré Carnival

Meanwhile, the 2026 Chitré Carnival will officially kick off on Friday, February 13, with the traditional Pechugón, an emblematic event that will take place from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. in Unión and Centenario Parks.
