Panama Celebrates Labor Day May 1

Panama commemorates Labor Day on May 1st each year. This year unions and worked marched through the main roads of the Panama City to remind of the importance of defending and preserving labor rights.

The Labor Code establishes that worker who work on holidays must be adequately compensated; According to article 49 of this Code, employees will have the right to a surcharge of 150% on the salary of the ordinary work day for working on holidays.
