Panama has a new Carnival Queen

Panama has a new queen for the capital city Carnival 2017, Gisselle Ow Young, who was chosen to represent Panama from 10 candidates.

The selection of the Queen of Carnival 2017 was held at the Teatro Anayansi Atlapa Convention Center, from 7:30 p.m. The second princess was Marielys Maria Medina and first princess, Katherine Mabel Norato.

The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) decided last year to postpone the date of the election of the Queen of Carnival, in consideration of the victims and material damages left by the bad weather caused by Hurricane Otto in Panama.

Carnival festivities will be held from Friday 24 to Tuesday, February 28 throughout the country. In Panama City the main celebration will take place on Cinta Costera 1.

If you are planning to travel on these dates be sure to plan ahead as there will be road closures and considerable traffic.
