Panama’s Metro System to be Extended
President Juan Carlos Varela has announced in the draft of the 2017 state budget that $661 million dollars will be allocated for the Panama Metro System extensions Line 1 and 2.
In a press conference following a special cabinet meeting which addressed the budget for teachers wage increases, Varela announce that line 1 will extend to Villa Zaita in Las Cumbres. Line 2, the president announced, which is currently under construction will be extended to the El Dorado Commercial Center on Avenida Ricardo J. Alfaro.
The 2017 budget will also include funds for the start of Panama Metro’s line, which will extend from Albrook to La Chorrera.
