Panama workers mark Labor Day

Yesterday, Sunday May 1st marked Labor Day in Panama, and millions of workers took to the street to speak about current issues in Plaxa Porras. The event was well attended, by  journalists, workers, miners, teachers and members of other organized groups.

Many asking that the government hear their voices regarding several issues including the basic food basket, security, potable water, harassment against women and job opportunities.

La Prensa cartoonist payed tribute to the day with the above Cartoon. The holiday will extend to Today, Monday May 2, offering workers a day off work.

Expect business closures and more traffic in the beach area, lasting into the evening.
