Can I Recycle in Coronado?
Yes! Recycling options are currently available in Coronado, Panama. At present, there is no curbside recycling service here, but residents and visitors in Coronado can and are encouraged to recycle.
There are currently two options in the Coronado area: the Coronado Novey Plaza, they take plastic, metal, cardboard, and glass, and the Recycling center in Gorgona.
Coronado Novey Plaza
Located beside the Filipe Motta in the Coronado Las Pergalas plaza, there are recycling receptacles outside on the right side of the building.
Accepted materials include paper, plastic, cans, tetra packs, and cardboard.
It’s essential to sort your items before dropping them off, as proper placement in the bins is required. Sorting beforehand may provide a quicker and more convenient experience.
Recimetal SA Gorgona
Situated in Nueva Gorgona, directly across the highway from the Gorgona entrance, this center accepts sorted plastic, glass, cardboard, batteries, paper, metal, and more.
They even offer payment for certain recyclables, including cans, batteries, and aluminum.
Recimetal SA operates daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Making a Difference
Although recycling may pose challenges in this area, it remains achievable. One of the biggest things you can do is to reduce the amount of one-use plastic in your life. Opting for reusable alternatives, such as cloth bags, stainless steel water bottles, and glass containers, can significantly decrease plastic waste. Reusable fruit bags are another effective strategy. Finally, participate in or organize community clean-up events. These initiatives not only help keep our local environment clean but also raise awareness about the importance of responsible waste management.
By collectively embracing these small yet meaningful actions, we can contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable Coronado, setting an example for others to follow.
