This year marks 30 years of the Classical Musical Festival in El Valle. The annual Festival in Panama promotes classical music and tourism in the mountain town.

This year the Music Festival will be a two-day event, with music from the Friction Quartet on February, 8th 2025 starting at 8:00 p.m tickets are available for $25.00.

On February, 9th, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. hear music from the Red de Orquestas Orquesta Juvenil Metropolitana. Entry is free. 

The Story Behind the Festival 

Over three decades ago a group of friends began meeting each year over Holy Week at one of their homes in El Valle de Antón. The meeting centered around sharing their favorite pastime: listening to classical music records. Gradually, the group grew to include more people, until the number of participants exceeded the capacity of the venue.

The next year’s event the group found a larger, space: the San José Church, in the center of El Valle. The church being a public space, allowed the event to open to the public. At the same time, records were replaced by live musicians, pianos, violins, and orchestras. Over the years the event grew, including many classical musicians. 

The Musical Association of El Valle was Born 

In 2025 The Musical Association of El Valle de Antón celebrates its thirtieth festival. In the beginning, the board of directors included Julio Jiménez (president), Javier Lasa (vice president), Ignacio Lasa (secretary), Billy Quijano (treasurer), and Gabriel Galindo (vocal). 

In its 30 years of existence, the El Valle Music Festival has been a platform for outstanding national and international musicians, among them: the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jorge Ledezma Bradley and Efraín Guigui Abbo, Cecilio Castillero, Carmen Cedeño, Efraín “Pin” Castro, Luis Haza, Luis Troetsch, Emiliano Pardo, Tiam League, Tatiana Mitchko, Alexander Motouzkine, Marianna Prjevalskaya, Kookhee Hong, Jing-Jing Wang, Diana Durán, Elisa Troetsch, Ricardo Velásquez, Oxana Schechenko, Inesa Sinkevich, Luis Casal, Juan Castillo, Belle Art Quartet, Música Viva Choir, the Ensamble Solistas under the direction of Ricardo Risco, Consort Musik and many more artists.
