Boquete Flower Fair
The Boquete Flower and Coffee fair is an annual event taking place in the community of Boquete, Panama since 1950. See the National Fairs article for this year’s date.
The Boquete Flower and Coffee Fair takes place each year at the beginning of the year. It is always a much-anticipated event bringing a gathering of vendors together, offering coffee and flower exhibitions.
The event is put on by a non-profit organization, and has a great history. On April 9, 1970, one day before the fifth festival opened, the district was affected by severe flooding. Boqueteños (people from the area of Boquete), decided a year later to establish, permanently, an exhibition that would show the country the best of the community’s production, its flowers and its coffee.
If you are visiting Panama, Chiriqui is a region of Panama you will want to explore, as it is very different from the beach community, offering a cooler climate and mountain range.
Boquete is 38 kilometers from David. The fair is located on the eastern bank of the Boquete River. One of the main displays in the centre of the fairgrounds is an exhibition put on by the local orchid society.
While flowers are the main event, there is also a vegetable display. Chiriqui is really famous for providing the country with fresh produce. Along with the veggies, if you are a coffee lover, you will want to sample what this region has to offer in coffee!
