Road Projects in El Valle de Antón, Gorgona, and San Carlos
President José Raúl Mulino inaugurated road construction projects in Panama West and Coclé in March 2026. The infrastructure improvements will take place in Gorgona, San Carlos, and El Valle de Antón.
The projects, funded with an investment of over B/.24.8 million, aim to benefit a total of 55,000 residents, according to the government statement.
Chame and San Carlos Road Improvements
In Chame, the project will rehabilitate sections such as:
- Pan-American Highway–Punta Chame
- El Salado–Llano Grande
In San Carlos, the following roads will be addressed:
- Los Pintos
- La Gloria
- Los Colibrís
- El Nance
With these efforts, the Government aims to restore more than 79 kilometers of roads in the region, focusing on enhancing road safety and creating new development opportunities for the communities of West Panama and Coclé.
In a ceremony at the El Copecito Cultural Center in El Espino, President Mulino, alongside José Luis Andrade Alegre, Minister of Public Works, announced the commencement of the “Rehabilitation of the Pan-American Highway – El Valle de Antón” project. This initiative, managed by TRANSEQ-COPSA, involves the rehabilitation of 34.8 kilometers of road and an investment of B/.12,468,814.14, benefiting over 20,000 inhabitants as well as local agriculture, commerce, and tourism.
Additionally, the “Design, Construction, Rehabilitation, and Maintenance of Streets in Gorgona” project was launched. This project, executed by the Gorgona Streets Consortium, involves an investment of B/.1,751,070.74 to cover 6.1 kilometers of streets, aiming to improve connectivity and road safety for over 5,000 residents.
President Mulino also announced the start of the “Design, Construction, Rehabilitation, and Maintenance of Streets in Chame and San Carlos” project. With an investment of B/.10,618,426.73, this initiative, carried out by the San Carlos Consortium, will enhance 38.1 kilometers of roadways, benefiting over 30,000 residents and supporting the region’s natural and cultural attractions.
