The Best of Panama Coffee 2025

The Best of Panama Coffee 2025

300 international buyers from more than 20 countries will participate in the 2025 edition of the “Best of Panama.”

The electronic auction scheduled for August 6 at 6:00 p.m. (local time), called The Best of Panama (BOP) auction, will feature 50 lots of Panama’s finest specialty beans, including: 20 lots of washed Geisha, 20 lots of natural Geish,a and 10 varietal lots.

This totals approximately 1,000 kilograms of high-end coffee. Organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of Panama (SCAP), this event has become a significant global platform for the country’s elite coffee producers.

Buyers from regions such as Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East—including nations like China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the U.S., Canada, and the UAE—have signed up for this eagerly awaited bidding event. These participants represent top-tier roasters, coffee chains, and collectors in search of the finest beans.

This year’s base auction price begins at $100 per kilogram for Geisha lots and $60 for varietals, reflecting Panama’s prominence in the high-end coffee market. SCAP Vice President Daniel Peterson emphasized that all coffee offered has been meticulously curated and evaluated by an international tasting panel during the June BOP competition.

Geisha coffee, particularly when cultivated in Panama’s highlands, has received global recognition for its exceptional floral aroma, citrus notes, and complexity. In 2024, a record was set at the BOP auction when a lot of Elida Geisha Natural sold for an astounding $10,013 per kilogram, solidifying its status as the most expensive coffee in the world.

As demand for Geisha and other Panamanian coffees continues to rise, Panama has seen ongoing investments in infrastructure, agritourism development, and expanded global collaborations in areas like Chiriquí.
