Panama lifts mask mandate July 11th 2022
President Laurentino Cortizo announced on July 1st, 2022 that the mask mandate in Panama will finally be lifted (except in medical facilities and public transport) on July 11th, 2022.
In Panama, the use of masks outdoors was eliminated on March 28th. And on June 26th, 2022, infectious disease pediatrician Xavier Saez Llorens explained that the use of the mask should be left up to personal discretion, since removing the mandate does not remove the recommendation.
Cortizo announced that vaccination has been highly influential in the country and that his administration continues to guarantee the vaccine to all Panamanians, which he considers to be a determining factor for economic recovery.
"Panama has international recognition as one of the countries with the best and most effective mass vaccination systems per capita worldwide." - President of Panama
