Panama begins testing of German Covid vaccine
Eduardo Ortega, consultant of the Panama Covid-19 Vaccine Consortium, confirmed Monday, August 29th that trial studies of the covid-19 vaccine would begin in Panama starting next week.
"The plan that the researchers have is to start the study next week," said Ortega on the TVN newscast, who reported that the vaccine is being tested in Panama in phase two of research. "This is a relatively small study because it is phase one and two," said the specialist.
The sample was 250 volunteer subjects, despite more than 4 thousand volunteers.
“The response in Panama was impressive. It was planned to recruit approximately 250 subjects and there is a list of approximately 4,000 ”, explained Ortega, also stating the importance a balance of the participation of both females and males.
The vaccine is from a German biotech company. In "Panama begins Trials of Covid Vaccine" an Estella article, the same vaccine is being tested in Germany and Belgium.
Ortega added there are two other Latin American nations that are going to test this vaccine.
