Panama’s forum for gender equality
Monday May 20th 2019 Panama hosted the International Forum "Gender equality on the road to sustainable development: balance, challenges and strategy."
Representatives of the Latin American international organizations, civil society and private sector along with academics and specialists in gender and development issues will attend to speak on the issue of gender equity in Latin America.
In addition, the day of a day will also be dedicated an acts that will continue to close economic gender gaps addressed by Panama’s Executive Decree 236, of the National Council for Gender Parity.
At the forum, current Panamanian Vice President and Foreign Minister, Isabel De Saint Malo de Alvarado will transfer the Technical Secretariat of the National Council for Gender Parity to the City of Knowledge Foundation.
"This Council is in charge of coordinating and generating synergies among all government actors, the private sector and non-governmental organizations that work for equity between men and women, as well as supporting the implementation of measures and activities related to prioritized proposals on female labor participation (La Estrella)."
