3-day public office closure

The Panamanian government has ordered the closure of public offices from noon on Wednesday 23 and until Friday 25 January 2019 in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito for World Youth Day (WYD).

The recent announcement of a 3-day closure coinciding with WYD was expected. The closure aims to keep the Panamanian capital gears towards one goal, moving tourists and locals in the capital for the event. 

The Minister of the Presidency Jorge González confirmed the closure, and urged the private company to join this special schedule .

"We invite all sectors of society to join this type of initiative so that we can all participate in a historic and unprecedented event in our region," he said.

"To the unions, associations and companies that, on their own initiative, recognizing the importance and impact of this event for the country, have decided to establish special schedules and even the closing of the same to facilitate that their collaborators are also hosts and enjoy what It will be a great party, "Gonzalez added, in a press conference held on Wednesday, December 26.
