6.0 Earthquake hits Panama
Originally it was said that the earthquake was a 5.9 and 6.2 of magnitude, but later the scale was revised and was established at a magnitude of 6.0
Earthquake felt in Panama had its origin in Golfito, Costa Rica. The earthquake that was felt on Friday, August 17 at 6:22 pm, originated 18.9 kilometers north of the town of Golfito, Costa Rica, and 55.1 kilometers west of Volcán, in Panama.
The earthquake shook the province of Chiriquí and part of Bocas del Toro
This was reported last night by the staff of the Geological Service of the United States, according to the CNN en Español news network.
The earthquake did not cause damage or victims, but it did alarm the residents of southern Costa Rica and the province of Chiriqui.
The president of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, was surprised by the quake when he was being interviewed on a radio station in the city of San José. The trial for the murder of the university student Aira Guerra was temporarily suspended during the arguments of the accused.
