Panamanian truckers released in Nicaragua
It took 37 days for Panamanian truckers to be released from Nicaragua.
More than 19 cargo drivers from Panama who were stranded for several weeks in Jinotepe, Nicaragua, managed to leave the area on Sunday after the roads - which were blocked by opposition groups of President Daniel Ortega - were cleared.
"These were 37 harrowing days, away from our families, away from our country ... I am in Peña Blanca entering Costa Rican territory ... thank God this uncertainty ended," said Jose Infante on Sunday afternoon, transporter who had been stranded after the blockade.
He said they expect to arrive in Panama in 12 to 24 hours, taking into account that some carriers need to carry cargo to Costa Rica.
The truck drivers had to be escorted by the Nicaraguan military.
