Tests completed for Candidates for the Supreme Justice
The second phase of the process to which 20 candidates for the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) were submitted finished .
The State Commission for Justice, which lead this exercise, reported that the last psychometric tests were carried out to measure the skills, abilities and competencies of the candidates, who were initially interviewed personally by members of the commission.
The psychometric tests were applied by Omaira Frías, psychologist of the Ministry of Health as well as Carlos Leiro, human resources specialist. Since May 21, the two professionals interviewed three candidates per day, behind closed doors and in strict confidentiality.
Leiro explained that the three chosen psychometric tools, which have proven validity and reliability in the past, are mostly used in the United States and in European countries.
The first, the specialist said, measured the professional style of the candidates. The second evaluated the attitudes in the workplace and the integrity of the lawyers, while the third measured their critical reasoning.
According to the Attorney General of the Administration, Rigoberto González , coordinator of the State Commission for Justice, will now prepare the report with the results of the psychometric tests and with their observations on who were the best performers in the public interviews.
The commission expects that, by June 15, it will send the document to the Executive, which will make a final decision on who will be the two candidates to replace judges Jerónimo Mejía and Oydén Ortega, whose terms expired last December 31. 2017.
The National Assembly will be the body in charge of ratifying or not to the two choices made by the Executive Branch.
