Today: Hurricane Fighter plane in Panama

Hurricane Fighter Plane in Panama for special exhibition

The US Armed Forces hurricane fighter plane landed in Panama yesterday, April 25th and will be participating in the exhibition today (April 26) at the Panama Pacifico International Airport.

The exhibition will be free and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Those who wish to participate must carry their personal identity document.

You will be able to observe the hurricane fighter plane, a C-130 Hercules, which will be accompanied by a Gulf Stream NOAA Jet and a team made up of scientists and pilots, who routinely make flights to the "eye" of a hurricane when they occur.

In recent days, the director of Hydro-meteorology of ETESA , Diego González , said that "this visit is a way to exchange experience, both with our team of professionals and with the general public."

González said that they want to raise awareness in the population about the importance of prevention against atmospheric phenomena of great magnitude. He added that "the aircraft and its experts will carry out an educational mission to help explain the role they play in forecasting hurricanes and encourage children and youth to take an interest in this profession."

The hurricane fighter aircraft visited Mexico, and upon completion of its stay in Panama, it will travel to Jamaica and Puerto Rico, on April 27 and 28 respectively.
