Woman gets 5 years after beating on her partner

A Woman will serve a 5-year prison sentence after physically abusing her partner.

Prosecutor Noriela Torres de Jiménez obtained the sentence in Veraguas.  The accused was sentenced to a penalty of 60 months in prison, therapeutic treatment to be determined by doctors as well as the disqualification of public functions for one year after the main penalty is served.

The assault took place on April 14, 2015, at approximately 11:45 p.m., at the residence of the victim and the accused where they were living together.  According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the woman assaulted her partner physically, injuring his lip, causing a gash as well as using a power cord to whip him  on the back and arms.  Following a medical evaluation, the victim was given two days off on disability.

The aggrieved man said that his partner also mistreated him verbally with insults, threats and yelled profanity
