Acodeco issued more than 2000 fines to date

In less than 4 months, Acodeco has issued 2,231 fines amounting to over $753K.

The Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition Authority (Acodeco) issued fine to various commercial establishments for infractions of current regulations.

Minisupers received the most infractions totaling fees of $122,155; followed by supermarkets with 258 fines for $ 113,070; 148 restaurants and boarding houses  were sanctioned for $ 50,775 and finally 66 clothing and footwear stores for $ 44,840.

The statistical data is based on sanctions applied to economic agents that did not comply with the current regulations of Law 45 of 2007, regarding consumer protection.

The general administrator of the Acodeco, Oscar GarcĂ­a Cardoze, said through a press release that the Board of fines is a response to the request of consumers, who want to know the names of the offenders.  On the website, you can now find out the names of the companies, the reason for the complaint and the amount of the fine.
