Wild Bill and ex-wife jailed in Panama

A sentence of 47 years and a month was given to American, William Dathan Holbert, aka “Wild Bill”. Monday, August 14, 2017. Holbert was imprisoned for killing and stealing from five people in Bocas del Toro, Panama.

His wife, Laura Reese, received a sentence of 26 years and 4 months in jail, for her part in the murders.

 After two adult bodies were discovered on a property owned by Holbert, investigations began. Holbert and Reese were arrested in late July 2010 on the San Juan River, the border between Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

The continued search on Holbert's properties revealed the bodies of a man, a woman, and a child. Interpol agents of the Judicial Investigation Directorate and Panama Police Brought the couple back to Panama, where they confessed and have been in custody in the Chiriqui Province.

At the time of interrogations, prosecutors said Holbert had confessed to the killings, explaining "what he did, how he did it and why he did it".

Holbert first admitted that he had murdered three members of the Brown family, and stolen their property. Then, in interrogations following, he confessed to the murder of Bo Icelar and Cheryl Hughes.
