New consumer protection law proposed

A Law new proposed by PRD Deputy Samir Gozaine aims to make Panama’s retailers responsible for repairs on products under warranties, as opposed to manufacturers. The law would bring Panama closer to North American jurisdictions.

Gozaine explains “it is unfair that a client has to be referred to a manufacturer,” continuing “this goes against the spirit of consumer protections.”

The deputy said that the law would make it easier for customers to ensure that warranties are followed.
