Terrorist Attacks Hit Brussels
Tuesday March 22 at 7:00 a.m. two blasts hit Zaventem International airport in Brussels Belgium, 11 people are believed to have been killed. Another explosion struck Maelbeek metro station a station near EU headquarters just one hour later.
In the second attack, at least 20 people are believed to be dead. About 230 are believe to have been injured in the attacks.Brussels police have issued a wanted notice for a man seen pushing a luggage trolley through the airport. The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for attacks in a statement issued on the IS-linked Amaq agency.
With the terrorism alert in Belgium at it’s highest level, three days of national mourning have been declared, with new security measures being put in place.
Prime Minister Charles Michel called the latest attacks "blind, violent and cowardly.” The Prime Minister continued ”This is a day of tragedy, a black day... I would like to call on everyone to show calmness and solidarity".
