An Early End to Rainy Season

Director of Panama’s Civil defense agency (Sinaproc), José Donderis told the associated press earlier this week that the dry season is expected to begin in mid-November. Director Donderis explained that the country would continue to receive rain, however without the high winds that have been recorded so far in this rainy season.

With rainy season expected to end early, there are concerns about the low levels of rain received by many areas throughout the country so far this year. In particular, the Azuero region, has been especially dry this season. With many who rely on agriculture as their livelihood, the lack of rain could be detrimental. The rains that have fallen in the last few months have not been sufficient to replenish the soil.
