New Bridge Over the Panama Canal

The Ministry of Public Works has started to receive bids for building another bridge over the Panama Canal. The tender will remain open until November 30, 2015 for companies to submit bids.

The new bridge’s design will be cable-stayed, similar to the Centenario Bridge, and will be approximately 1,118 meters between two towers. It will be built north of the Bridge of the Americas.

The bridge will be built over a period of about three years. It will have six lanes for vehicles, three in each direction, and two tracks for line 3 of the Metro.
