Panama to compete in ITU World Triathlon
From September 15 - 19 150 of Panama’s best triathletes will join the world’s top Olympic-distance triathletes to compete in the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final taking place in Chicago.
Triathletes representing their country, will not only be competing for a world championship title but also a spot in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic games. In addition to the group of 150 elite racers, events will also feature top-flight sprint and olympic distance races for age-group athletes, paratriathletes, juniors under 23, and aquathlon athletes. In total 6,500 triathletes will compete of the four days of competition.
Yitzel Jaen is one of the Panamanian triathletes who will be representing her country at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final. Yitzel is also training for the next year’s Ironman event which will take place in Panama on Jan 31 2016.
The Ironman event is unique in Panama as the 1.2-mile swim course will take place in the Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal. The bike course runs Casco Viejo over the new section of the Cinta Costera, and the the run is along the beautiful Amador Causeway.
