MiAmbiente Urges Citizen Reporting

The Ministry of the Environment (MiAmbiente) is calling on communities in Panama to report wildlife sightings to 311 and to respect speed limits in biological corridors.

"We make an urgent appeal to all citizens: respect speed limits, especially in rural areas and areas near biological corridors. Reducing speed saves wildlife and is one of the most effective ways to protect our biodiversity,"

the Ministry of the Environment (MiAmbiente).

In Punta Chame, a sea turtle was found in a stage of decomposition, and in gamboa a ocolt was run over.

A male sloth that was "urgently transported to the Wildlife Veterinary Clinic; unfortunately, it showed no vital signs upon arrival," the institution reported.

Meanwhile, park rangers responded to a citizen report about the presence of a two-toed sloth in the La Tulihueca sector of the Balboa neighborhood in the district of La Chorrera. The institution detailed that after verifying the location, the sloth was rescued and evaluated, confirming that it was in good health. It was subsequently released in a suitable area that guarantees its conservation and development in its natural habitat.

Following the reports, the institution called on the community to report sightings to 311 and to respect speed limits in biological corridors.
