Dolphins rescued off Los Santos beach
Aquatic Resources Authority of Panama (ARAP) reported nearly fifty bottle nose dolphins beached on playa Ostonal in Tonosí this morning (Wednesday April 20th). 25 dolphins were successfully returned oceans by officials and local residents. According to residents in the area 10 dolphins did not survive the stranding.
The causes of the dolphins stranding is unknown however it is not uncommon in this area. What is uncommon is the large number that we found in this case. Typically only one or two bottlenose dolphins are found beached at a time explained the region director for ARAP.
