Over A Million Birds of Prey Fly Over Panama
Right now it is the migratory season for a many birds. This migration offers us the opportunity to see a variety of birds who visit Panama annually. Among the birds currently migrating in Panama are birds of prey.
Each year, there is typically one day where up to 2 million birds of prey can be seen flying over Panama, in the country’s national airspace. This year the “big day” was yesterday, October 29. Yesterday, director of the Audubon Society Panama, Rosabel Miró recorded 1 million 141 thousand 96 birds flying over Panama City. Environmental organizations including the Audubon Society of Panama will continue to monitor the migration until mid November from Ancon Hill.
