Panama’s GDP Grows 5.5% in the First Half of the Year

The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) announced that in the first half of 2026, Panama’s economy experienced a 5.5% rise in GDP.

In the second quarter, GDP reached $20,069.2 million, with the main boost coming from the transport, storage, and mail sector, which grew 12.8% between April and June.

The INEC attributed growth to Panama Canal operations, land transport, air transport, and port activities. Wholesale and retail trade, along with agriculture, were among the other sectors contributing to the growth.
