Navigating biofouling training held in Panama
When ships cross the ocean, they can introduce invasive aquatic species to new marine environments. This can pose threats to the world’s freshwater and coastal marine ecosystems.
For this reason, Panama hosted an intensive training series to educate in biofouling management. The event aimed to share ways of mitigating the transfer of invasive species by ship hulls or ballast water.
The program included training on biofouling risk and the skills to manage it.
