Panama plays Canada in FIBA Basketball qualifier
Monday, August 29th at 7:10 p.m. Panama faced off against Canada in a qualifier for FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. The event was held at the Roberto Durán Arena in Panama City.
The Canadian team was considered to be one of the favorites in the world games, with NBA players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Kelly Tyler of the Detroit Pistons.
Canada dominated the game with a score of 105 to Panama’s 50.
"Canada has NBA players, they are scoring teams," Panamanian coach Flor Meléndez reiterated, admitting that the North American rival is "super complicated."
Despite the score difference, Panama played well, with a buzzer-beating shot from half-court just before half time to keep spirits high.
