Panama Baseball: Metro and Chiriquí face off again

Metro and Chiriquí enter the final round of Panama’s national baseball series, Tuesday, November 9th, 2021. The first to win four games will win the title 78th National Major Baseball Championship.

Metro and Chiriquí are old acquaintances meeting yet again to decide who will take home the championship.

The first game of 4 is on tonight (Nov. 9th, 7:00 pm) airing from the Kenny Serracín Stadium.

Chiriquí, the current champion, secured their position by beating Bocas del Toro 7-3 in the fifth game of the semifinals.

“We both have good pitchers and explosive offense. They will be cardiac games”
said the pitcher from the capital Gilberto Méndez, who has announced his retirement from these tournaments.

“This will be a fairly even series. We know they have a good pitching staff, but if we want to retain the championship, we have to beat the best and that is why we must go out and look for four more wins to bring the title back to the province."

- Carlos Xavier Quiroz, first baseman and fourth batter from Chiriquí,

The first time these teams met in a Grand Final was in 1993 and the Chiricans won 4-1. Then they faced each other in 2001, the capital winning 4-3. In 2015 they met again, leaving Chiriquí 4-2; and in 2019 Metro took the final 4-2.
