Sunday Quarantine & beach closures remain in place

he Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that the total quarantine on Sunday will be maintained, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, it had been known that the measure would be lifted tomorrow.

October 12th, is also 15 days following the planned opening for beaches which remains without a date for reopening.

The general director of Public Health, Nadja Porcell, indicated that, in effect, the date was in a document that was made a month ago, so it was "assumed that this was going to be the case." The official continued that the measure (Sunday Quarantine) will be maintained until further notice.

October 12, 2020, however brings the reactivation of hotels, motels, rural hotels, lodging places, as well as swimming pools to 25% of their capacity was authorized.

Likewise, cinemas, theaters, museums, galleries and tourist sites with closed structures are allowed to reopen, at 50% of their capacity. Dances, discos, private parties or shows will not be allowed in any facility where these activities are carried out.

Meanwhile, Decree 1143 establishes a curfew in the provinces of Bocas del Toro and Chiriquí, from Monday to Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and total quarantine on Fridays at 7:00 p.m. until Monday. 5:00 am, with the exception of the districts of Chiriquí Grande, Isla Colón and Almirante.

In the case of the districts of Chiriquí Grande, Isla Colón and Almirante in Bocas del Toro, as well as the province of Colón, they must comply with a curfew from Monday to Saturday, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and total quarantine, on Sundays.

For the rest of the provinces including Panama and Panama West, the curfew and total Sunday quarantine remain in force as established.
