Panama issues country wide curfew

In a state of national emergency the country of Panama has issues a night curfew from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. starting Wednesday March 19th 2020.

The curfew is one more measures to counter the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the country. The decree was announced Wednesday see below for the official document. 

The president also took to twitter to announce the curfew. 

"I order a curfew from 9:00 pm to 5 am, starting today (Wednesday) throughout the national territory," 

"Taking measures of this type is not easy, but as the first worker in Panama it is my duty to guarantee the tranquility of the country and ensure the health of Panamanians," he added.

Among those exempts to the measure are emergency response workers, those who work in hospitals, the pharmaceutical industry, public transportation, gas stations, the press, and personnel of the Panama Canal Authority.
