Panama Coronavirus Alert

Tuesday March 3rd 2020 Panama’s Cabinet Council approved a resolution that will put resources towards protecting the country against the Coronavirus which is quickly becoming a global epidemic.

The alert, in accordance with international requirements, came after Argentina and Chile announced cases and the World Bank announced a contingency fund of 12 billion to combat the virus.

Panama’s minister of Health, Rosario Turner, Panama approves the Coronavirus alert as it " allows us [the country of Panama] to have the support of the Ministry of Security and have more resources."

Turner said that among the actions to prevent the coronavirus is the need for economic resources. With the approved Panama coronvirus alert apart from the already authorized million dollars there is about $3 million more to come.

With that, the minister adds there are no cases of coronavirus registered in Panama.
