Boná Island gains protection
A resolution that makes it the Isla Boná Wildlife Refuge has been passed ensuring the island remains a wildlife refuge.
That resolution, which was signed by the Minister of Environment, Milciades Concepción, also establishes protection for Estivá Island, which constitute an important habitat for bird species.
The islands of Boná and Estivá, which previously lacked legal protection are located in the Gulf of Panama, and are also considered areas frequented by whales and dolphins.
