South Korean to build Arraijan Panama metro line

South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co beat two Chinese rivals in the bid to build the third subway line in Panama.

Panama metro Line 3 will be a 25-km line with 14 stations, connecting Albrook to Arraijan. The monorail line will be operated by six-car trains and offer a 45 minutes estimated travel time on the line. The train will have a capacity for 20,000 passengers per hour per direction. The project will be the longest metro line yet and take on the most ambitious construction complications, including crossing the Panama canal. 

Once the contract will be signed, the project will need to be completed within the within 54 months, from the design to the construction of civil works and auxiliary facilities of the line and stations.
