Panama’s Gay Pride Parade

Panama’s Gay Pride Parade was a huge success this year. With hundreds attending including TV personality, Carolina Demetiev, the 15th edition of the parade was one to be remembered.

Participants danced and sang on June 29th 2019, in Panama’s 2019 Gay Pride Parade ending a month dedicated to raising awareness about LGBT rights.  This year the Mayor’s Office of Panama, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Office of the First Lady and various NGOs all supported the event. The event was well attended, and received international coverage. 

A huge rainbow colored flag travelled down the streets of Casco, as spectators celebrated the countries progress towards human rights. While Panama has a long way to go, the event was one that offered a glimmer of hope that we’re moving in the right direction when it comes to considering the rights of all human rights.
