Minera starts copper production in Panama

Minera Panama will start the export of copper concentrate in June 2019, starting a new era for the Panamanian export sector. Cobre Panama spokesman explained, the first shipment will go to Asia.

The first Minera Panama copper shipment, set to take place next month will the first shipment of this year’s production expected to be between 140,000 and 175,000 tons.

The exportation of copper concentrate is coming from a mine, located in Donoso, Colón. If the mine reaches its maximum production, the export of copper concentrate will reach $ 2 billion.

The Panamanian government along with international financial organizations have projected the addition of copper concentrate to Panama’s exports could bring the country’s economic growth to 6.3% in 2019.
