$90 Million drug bust in Colon

The National Aeronaval Service (Senan) conducted the seizure of 1,417 packages allegedly containing drugs inside a container, in the Port of Cristobal, in the Province of Colón.

Senan reported that the cargo, camouflaged inside 46 black briefcases, was reported as sacks of coal. 

"The value exceeds 90 million dollars in the international market," said the Attorney for Drugs of Colón and Guna Yala, Eduardo Rodríguez.

According to Deputy Commissioner Luis Rodríguez, the drug bust marks the the 27th successful operation of the Aeronaval in 2019 and also the largest achieved to date.

According to Senan this year they have confiscated a total of 12,853 packages of illicit substances. In 2019, 33 people have apprehended for the possession and transport of the substances.
