President Varela receives executives from China Eastern airline to strengthen connectivity between Panama and Shanghai

Thursday April 11th Varela received the executives at the Palace of Las Garzas. He said,  "the visit marks the beginning of a work between air companies and entities of Panama and China to evaluate possibilities that achieve a greater commercial exchange, tourism and among our peoples, which is the objective of the Strip and the Route." 

Panama is growing more and more popular among Chinese tourists. In recent months the country has reached about 13,000 tourists from the Asian country, and is expected to reach 30 thousand at the end of the year.

Óscar Ramírez, manager of the Tocumen Airport, expressed his gratitude towards China Eastern for their consideration of Panama explaining, that Tocumen has increased its capacity raised aviation standards and allies. He also highlighted that that, at the end of the month the new fully operational terminal will be opened, with which it will increase passenger capacity from 16 to 25 million in the coming years.

The representatives of the Chinese airline congratulated Panama on the recent measures and policies that will help improve connectivity. 

 China Eastern makes 2,600 daily flights to 187 destinations in the world.
