Panama champion of the Caribbean Series!!

After a late invite to the party, because they said they would host it at their house, Panama has beat Cuba 3-1 to win the Caribbean Series.

Sunday, February 10th, 2019 Panama took the title at the Rob Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City in a game that will go down in Panamanian history. 

Allen Cordoba took a drive from second base to Jilton Calderon who had won the team a double for the first inning. Elmer Reyes brought Allen Cordoba home from third with a hit a to finish the first inning 2-0 for the home team.

It took Cuba till the 5th inning to put a score up with Carlos Benítez driving Alfredo Despaigne home, in the top of the fifth.  Panama answered in the bottom of the seventh with an unstoppable hit by Rodrigo Vigil’s sending Jonathan Galvez home, Putting Panama in a good position at 3-1 in favor of Panama.

Closer Manny Corpas put the seal on Panama’s victory.

While Panama’s players will not receive a prize for reaching the final of the Caribbean Series, the victory will undoubtedly put Panama and it’s players on the map in the world of baseball.
