Pope’s route and lane inversion

The announcement of the pope’s route through Panama City as part of World Youth Day (WYD) was announced Thursday, January 10th.

 The announcement, made by the executive director of support to the local organizing committee came as the second and third phase of the mobility plan were released. WYD, taking place from January 22nd until January 27th will bring thousands of pilgrims to the city, many of which have already arrived. 

The Pope is set to arrive on Wednesday, January 23rd. The Pope’s welcome tour will affect the city greatly. Here is that route. 

The Welcome Route starts at the Tocuman International Airport, leaving Terminal 2. The tour continues in the direction of Via Tocumen to the bridge of Parador in Pedregal, then to Via Domingo Diaz and ending in the Roosevelt Round-about. 

The tour continues on Via Espana on the 23rd, then to Avenida Central and Cinco de Mayo. Following this, they will head to Omar Torrijos Herrera and take the Viaduct to Clayton. 

There will be lane inversions Sunday January 20th from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. from Queso Chela in Capira to La Espiga in Chorrera. 

Sunday, January 27th lane inversion will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 6:00 p.m. from El Nace to Sajalices.
