Martinelly brothers court date cancelled

The hearing in Miami, United States, on the immigration status of brothers Ricardo Alberto and Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares, will no longer be held on December 27, as was originally scheduled.

The information was confirmed by the Immigration Court of Miami, where the case was transferred to after the two brothers left the Krome detention center, in the first week of December.

There is no new date scheduled for the hearing.

The brothers were apprehended on November 20, at the family mansion of Coral Gables. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE, for its acronym in English) of the Department of National Security reported that the two sons of former President Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal had their visa canceled in 2017, and since then,  they have been in the United States illegally.

On December 4, at a hearing in Krome, the immigration judge Adam Opaciuch granted bail of release of $ 1 million each. Then, Judge Opaciuch called a new hearing on December 27, at 8:30 am, which is now known to have been canceled.

The ex-governor’s two sons face, in addition, two requests for extradition and red alert from Interpol, within two judicial processes that are being followed in Panama: Odebrecht and Blue Apple, both for the payment of bribes to officials and close friends in the  past government.
