Panama wins Miss World of America

Miss World 2018 went to Miss Mexico, Vanessa Ponce de León. Solaris Barba took Miss World, America.

 A total of 118 contestants participated in the 68th edition of Miss World, which was held in the city of Sanya in China.  Saturday, the grand finale  was held, one of the most internationally recognized. The great winner was Miss Mexico, Vanessa Ponce de León.  Solaris Barba from Panama,  won as Queen of Miss World - America.

The finalists of the contest are selected for their performance in the different contests, which took place  during a whole month in China, among them were:   sports, top model, beauty with a purpose, talent and beauty at the beach,  The group is then reduced to 30 participants, who advance in the gala until they reach the round of questions.

In the group of 30 finalists included Solaris Barba, the representative of Panama. During the contest, the Panamanian managed to appear in the runway tests, beauty with a purpose, talent and  in sports. Even during the development of the final gala, the Panamanian participated several times showcasing her talent and in the parade of national costumes.

The group is then reduced from 30 to 12 participants, which were selected by continents.

    Europe: France, Scotland and Belarius
    Caribbean: Jamaica and Martinique
    America: Mexico and Panama
    Africa: Mauritius and Uganda
    Asia and Oceania: Nepal, New Zealand and Thailand

 Panamanian Solaris Barba, international business student, advanced to the Top12 of the Miss World 2018. For each continent a queen is chosen and the options for America were between Mexico and Panama.

The jury had to select five finalists, the queens of each continent of which  one of them would be the new Miss World. They were: Belarius, Jamaica, Mexico, Uganda and Thailand. After the round of questions and answers, the winner was Vanessa Ponce de León, representative of Mexico.   Queen of America was then designated to Panamanian Solaris Barba.

Miss Wold, together with the queens of each continent, will travel in the Beauty with a Purpose Tour, which will take place throughout 2019.  Solaris Barba obtains the highest distinction for a representative of Panama in the Miss World.

The work developed by the Panamanian in the Miss World has been one of the most outstanding in Panama in recent years. The performance of Solaris generated many expectations. This 19-year-old girl, who represented Herrera in Miss Panama 2018, is cataloged as a lover of the arts and is motivated by  the possibility of helping others.

During the course of the competition, Miss Panama managed to appear in the Top in the following contests:   Beauty with  a Purpose (Top 12) for her work with the Albinos Foundation of Panama, in the sporting event (Top 18) and in the fast track of modeling (Top 32)

It was in 2009, when Panama achieved the best position in the Miss World, when Nadege Herrera was among the finalists.  The  event was then held in South Africa.
