$2 million bail for Martinelli brothers

Ricardo Alberto and Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares, fugitive sons of former President Ricardo Martinelli were released on bail of one million dollars each by an American judge.

Judge Adam Opaciuch, held a hearing on Tuesday, December 4, but made no final decision regarding the expulsion or extradition of the two sons who are under a red alert from Interpol.

Opaciuch convened a new hearing for December 27 at the Krome Detention Center in West Miami, where the two brothers arrived on November 20, after being arrested by Immigration and Customs Service (ICE) officers near the family mansion located on Sunrise Terrace, Coral Gables.

The area, known as Cocoplum, is one of the most affluent in the city.  The mansion was acquired by the former president for $ 8.2 million.

The journalists could not attend the hearing who was  "closed" to the public at the request of one of the parties.

The sons are facing two extraditions and red alert requests from Interpol, related to court cases in Panama: Odebrecht and Blue Apple, both related to  bribing civil servants and  friends of the last government.
