Beware of telephone scams
The Office of the First Lady has issued a national alert, warning the public of scams being carried out through calls and messages.
The Office warned that "unscrupulous" people are requesting donations by means of calls and text messages, on behalf of the republic.
The message from the first lady made clear that, the Office of the First Lady, nor the first Lady of the Republic of Panama requests donations through these means, nor does it request that checks be made in the name of private individuals.
If any request of this type is received, citizens should write to firstname.lastname@example.org to make a report.
"The legal team of the Ministry of the Presidency of the Republic of Panama will present the respective complaints so that the competent authorities carry out the investigations," said a statement.
