Panama to Invest 2.2 Million for 2019 Carnival

The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) reported that it will invest 2.2 mill for next year’s Carnival festivities, with 1.5 million to be invested in Panama City.

The remaining 700,000 dollars will be for the rest of the country’s provinces. Administrator of Tourism, Gustavo Him, explained "Carnival in Panama: a country in party 2019" will grace the country from March 1 to 5, 2019.

Like every year the event aims to boost the economy and put Panama on the world’s mind internationally. Each year Thousands of tourists come to Panama to take part in one of the most important festivities for Panamanians, and experience one of the biggest parties in the world! 

A statement from the tourism board noted that the Capital Carnival Commission works to prepare attractions in order to exceed the numbers of visitors received in previous years.

In the past celebrations like that of"King Momo", brought upwards of 45,000 foreign tourists from countries like Germany, Argentina, Canada, Chile, the United States, Spain, Guatemala, Italy and Mexico.

In Panama City the event will take to the Cinta Costera once again, which has become the perfect venue for events like Carnival. This year it will have three platforms of shows: PTY, Balboa Lounge and Tarima del Recuerdo, in addition to performing the "culecos" (water trucks), parade of queens, VIP area for tourists and an area with entertainment games for children.

The ATP informed that for the stalls that will be selling food and drinks tickets will be raffled to see who wins the stalls. This endeavor will be supervised by the Ministry of Health (MINSA), in order to verify the safety of the food.

According to data from the Tourism Authority of Panama, in 2017 2.5 million foreign tourists arrived in the country, which spent 4,451 million dollars, representing an increase of 3.8 percent over the previous year.
